Dimensions Newsletter - July/August 2005

From the Prez:

Wow, this year is moving fast. It seems that I just finished my Christmas shopping and here it is summer.

We have a lot of fun and interesting things going on in Sequim Arts this summer so be prepared to dive in.

   ·     We still have several openings for Arts in Action. This is a chance for you to show other people what you can do.

If you have a workshop or classes starting later in the summer or in the fall it is a good chance for you to get students interested. It is a two-hour shift and you can demo any art form you would like to share. If nothing else, come out and see what other organizations are offering. It is a fun weekend activity.

   ·     Our picnic, YES a PICNIC, is coming up. Bring your significant other and join us on July 28th for a fun time at the beach. (We have an indoor area if the weather does not cooperate.) Look for details in this newsletter.

   ·     And, of course, don’t miss our Slide Party on August 18th. This is a great learning experience. We get to see all the slides submitted for the Juried Show and have coffee and dessert too.

   ·     Speaking of the Juried Show, I hope everyone is getting their artwork ready. We had so many great pieces in our Member’s Show I would like to see everyone entered in the Juried Show. If you need information on taking slides, please see below or call me and I will give you some suggestions.

   ·     Our Long-term Planning Retreat was on June 30th. Mary Ann Seward kept us well focused. We accomplished a lot in one day. I will report on this at the September meeting. Thanks to all of the members who participated. You were awesome.

   ·     I would like to close by thanking all of the people that worked on our Member’s Show, especially our chairpersons Pat Nix and Monika Livingstone. I would also like to thank Gloria Magner for chairing the Scholarship Committee and Beth Taylor for her help with it. Many thanks to Dee Green and her helper BZ Zabora for their great job of manning the Member’s Book Sale. And last but not least, Judy Stevens, and of course her many helpers, for the wonderfully organized Member’s Pot Luck Luncheon.

“You have to have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through”.

     Rosalynn Carter

         I am off to paint!

         Linda Stadtmiller, President     ·     lstadtmiller@tenforward.com      ·     681-4884

MAY MEETING

Gordon Day- - - What a wonderful artistic talent. To be able to take an inanimate piece of wood or an abandoned egg shell and find within its confines a breathtakingly beautiful image and the lifelike motion of nature’s animals. Thank you for taking the time to share your artwork and your expertise.
