Dimensions Newsletter - October 2005

Mission Statement: Visual artists and supporters encouraging and promoting the arts in the community.

Editors: Monika Livingstone and Linda Stadtmiller

From The President:

I hope everyone got to see our juried show. It was wonderful! My congratulations to all of the winners (listed elsewhere). More importantly, my heartfelt thanks to all of the members who volunteered to help with the show. Gail Larson and Joy Meyer did a wonderful job putting on this year's event. My many hats off to them for a job well done.

Speaking of hats, my thanks to Monika Livingstone who is doing the next few newsletters for me, and to Carol Eichler who has volunteered to help with programs through the end of the year. You have taken a great weight off my head, as well as a couple of hats.

The year is nearly over and so is my second term as president. Members of the nominating committee will be calling members to determine who might like to run for an office or for the board. Please consider being on our board, especially if you would like to see more from Sequim Arts. New ideas will come from new people, and this is your opportunity to help effect any changes. We are constantly growing and stretching, and you could help make things happen. I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

OCTOBER MEETING

Thursday, October 27

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim

Doors open at 9:30 AM for coffee and the meeting starts at 10:00 AM.

The program will be by Zach Holmes who is the owner of the Wildlight Gallery on Sequim Ave. He has been an active photographer since 1992 and has been publishing his photographic work since 1997, documenting a broad range of subjects ranging from adventure sports and wildlife to environmental concerns and cultural heritage. He states, “ I constantly seek out new ways to show the beauty of the natural world and man’s place in it. In this pursuit I push the limits of my equipment and film and challenge my preconceived ideas about light, the environment and photography.”

Zach will be showing us a digital show of some of his great images and talking about using your digital camera as a medium and for capturing images to use in your art.

Coming in December: A representative of Daniel Smith will come and talk to us about how their paints are made. She will also bring paints we can play with.

JUST A REMINDER: THERE WILL BE NO MEETING IN NOVEMBER. THE DECEMBER MEETING WILL BE DECEMBER 8TH. AND WILL BE A POT LUCK
