Dimensions Newsletter - November 2005

Mission Statement: Visual artists and supporters encouraging and promoting the arts in the community.

Editors: Monika Livingstone and Linda Stadtmiller

From The President:

I would like to start by welcoming all of the new board members for next year, especially Pat Nix who has stepped forward to become the next president of Sequim Arts.

You have read many times, my words on volunteers. I would like to thank all of those members who helped with the many projects and events that we have done over the last two years. You, not me or the board, make this organization work. It’s all of you helping with not just the big projects but the little things that in the end make Sequim Arts. Thank You and keep up the good work. Pat Nix will be around with her list of Committees to fill and I hope that you are as generous with your time for her as you have been for me. Again, Thank You.

Of course I can’t forget those who agreed to chair the many committees. The hardest part of your job was agreeing to be “the Chairperson.” It took a commitment, energy and organization. You all did that and more. Thank You

Last but not least, I would like to thank my board members, most of whom have stuck with me for two very busy years. All of you have done so much to bring Sequim Arts forward. We have gone through a lot of changes and I can only hope that Pat is as lucky as I have been to have a board that can work so well together and accomplish so much. Thank You.

Our Holiday pot luck and my last meeting as president will be on December 8th. I hope to see everyone there so that I can Thank You again in person.

For the last time, Your President

Linda Stadtmiller, 681-4884 lstadtmiller@tenforward.com

***JUST A REMINDER: THERE WILL BE NO MEETING IN NOVEMBER. ****

DECEMBER MEETING & ANNUAL HOLIDAY POTLUCK

Thursday, December 8

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim

Doors open at 9:30 AM and the meeting starts at 10:00 AM.

The Potluck is almost upon us and the meeting that precedes it promises to be a grand one! With a Daniel Smith demonstration and lots of wonderful food and drink to top it off, you just can't miss out! All members are asked to bring a dish to share. Don't worry about what category to fit it into, because we always have the greatest assortment of goodies to keep us happy and well-fed. The club will provide a spiral-cut ham, coffee, and a non-alcoholic punch--please bring your own eating utensils and plates! There will be door prizes selected by the Board. Come join the fun and if you feel so inclined, please feel free to put on the Ritz. If there would be a theme this year, it would simply be Happy Holly Day in red, white and gold! Remember to bring unwrapped toys for the Sequim Toy Drive and food for the food bank.

Karen Coryell, Chairperson

*Karen and her crew could use a couple more volunteers to help in the kitchen on the 8th. If you can help please call Linda at 681-4884.

Daniel Smith Artists’ Materials Demonstration

Our December demonstration will be by Daniel Smith.

The Daniel Smith representatives will delve into the fascinating world of artists’ pigments and share the passion for our favorite subject – color! This presentation will focus on an exciting development in the art materials industry, and on artists’ palettes, Daniel Smith PrimaTek® Series Paints. History and technology meet in the creation of PrimaTek® Paints, stunning artists’ colors made with pure, authentic mineral pigments. Learn about the unique properties of these paints, their development and their history.

Watercolorists, oil and acrylic painters will be able to see and experience a range of Daniel Smith paints and colors. Create wonderful granulating effects in watercolor by mixing PrimaTek® watercolors with modern Quinacridone or Phthalo colors or try glazing in oil or acrylic. We will also share some of our favorite new materials - brushes and papers that continue to inspire and delight.

Bring your best questions, sign up to win fabulous door prizes and make sure to take home free product samples. Please come ready to paint with and experience these remarkable colors and products at our demonstration tables. We’re sure that you will be enchanted!
